“Fake It Til You Make It”

A little over a year ago, I fully committed to this music dream. I took it off the back burner and made it my primary focus. I also started speaking it into existence. When people would ask me who I am or what I do, I'd say “Joshua Purnell, Singer/songwriter”. To be completely honest, I didn’t believe it at the time; I felt like I was living a lie and that at any moment someone would realize I was faking it. However, I just kept “faking it til I made it.” I took steps towards this music dream whenever opportunities presented themselves; I brought Amos(my guitar) along with me everywhere I went, performed for anyone who would listen, sang with anybody that loved music, and wrote about anything that made me feel. I’m not sure what defines “making it”, especially since fame and fortune aren’t a priority for me. However, when I look back, 2 years ago, at the shy boy that just sat and played quietly in his room and compare him to the man I see in the mirror today... We made it, no doubt about it, but that doesn't mean we're done yet.
